Cleaning Concrete Steps

All concrete steps have three parts, the tread, or (part that you step on) the riser, (face of the steps) and the landing, ( the top or flat area of the steps). Cleaning concrete steps with a pressure washing wand is possible, but it takes longer to do. When you use the pressure washing wand to clean steps you are only able to clean about a four inch strip at a time. This will also take a lot of back and forth arm movement.

Using A Surface Cleaner

A surface cleaner is used for cleaning flat concrete surfaces like, sidewalks and driveways. With the right technique, It can be used to clean concrete steps also. When we clean steps with a surface cleaner, we start at the top tread and work our way to the bottom tread, moving from one side of the steps to the other. After the treads and landing are cleaned, we use the wand to cut in the corners and to clean the risers. This can be challenging for a novice operator, having to walk up and down the steps while moving left to right. You also have to be careful and not get tangled in the pressure washer hose.
