We were asked about pressure washing an interior wall located inside a local truck terminal in Macon, Ga. Cleaning walls is not unusual for us but cleaning this wall was a slightly different. This wall was inside of the warehouse. It divided the office space and the break room space from the loading dock area. There were different types of electrical objects on the wall that had to properly covered to prevent damage from water. The large fans mounted on both sides of the wall needed to be covered. There were also bulletin boards, a time clock, and digital scale that needed to be covered as well. We even covered all of the wall outlets and light switches making sure water could not enter them too. After getting everything covered and taped we were ready to start cleaning.
Pressure Washing An Interior Wall
The wall had dust, dirt, mildew and cobwebs on it. It also had a slight film of grease on it from the forklifts and trucks going in and out of the terminal. To clean the wall we used a mixture of Simple Green degreaser and Sodium Hypochlorite (Bleach). The degreaser removed the grease and dirt, while the bleach removed the mildew. The cleaning solution was mixed in our 50 gal chemical tank and applied with our 12 volt soft wash system. After letting the solution dwell for 15 minutes we rinsed the wall using a ball valve. The ball valve is adjustable and allowed us to rinse the higher areas without using a ladder. We rinsed around doors and delicate areas by adjusting th pressure down.
