Surface Cleaner
As you may know, the GP Hammerhead and the Northern Tool surface cleaners do not come with casters. But you can add the casters to both surface cleaners easily. In this article we will show you the steps to adding casters to the GP surface cleaner. We will also show you where to purchase the casters and how to install them.
Where To Purchase
We purchased the casters for the GP surface cleaner at JN Equipment. They sell replacement parts for surface cleaners as well as other pressure washing related items. The casters for the GP surface cleaner came packaged with all the needed hardware. All we had to do was install them.
Tools Needed
The tools needed to install the casters were a 5/16″ drill bit, battery powered drill gun, 1/2″ open/close wrench and a 1/2″ socket/ratchet.
Drilling The Holes
The first step in the installation was to drill holes in the housing. This step was fairly easy to do because the holes are pre-marked under the housing. As you can see in the picture, we had to use the multi size drill bit. The standered bit caused the drill to rest on the swivel at a angle and would not allow us to drill parallel with the hole.
Adjustments
Adjustments were done to the casters after they were installed. The casters were adjusted down 1/4″, this raised the skirt up, to keep it from touching the concrete and the swivel was lowered a 1/4″ to compensate the difference. Adding casters to the surface cleaners allows for easy transport. It also helps when maneuvering while cleaning driveways and sidewalks.
